Burleigh County is hiring temporary Highway Maintenance Workers for the summer!

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Under supervision of the County Road Superintendent and County Engineer, is responsible for performing general labor-type duties, hand and power tool operation, and intermediate level truck and equipment operation on various road and bridge projects.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS FOR HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE WORKER I:

Requires two (2) years' experience in the operation of variable types of highway maintenance tools and equipment and general labor skills.

Applicant must be 18 years of age or above with a valid Class D driver's license and a clean driving record.

Candidates must successfully complete a standard background and criminal record check along with an alcohol and controlled substance test and physical exam. Costs associated with these exams will be paid for by the County.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS FOR HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE WORKER II:

Highschool diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED). Must have the ability to read and write

Requires a valid North Dakota Class A drivers license non-air restricted and with a tanker endorsement.

Two (2) or more years of experience in the operation of various types of heavy equipment, truck driving and maintenance duties of highway and road projects are preferred.

Candidates must successfully complete a standard background and criminal record check along with an alcohol and controlled substance test and physical exam. Costs associated with these exams will be paid for by the County

This position will involve working outdoors in all extremes of climate and weather conditions. This is a temporary seasonal position ending approximately October 2025. Will work 10-hour shifts or longer with possibility of overtime. May also work less than 40 hours per week dependent upon workload criteria and/or weather conditions.
