PENDING H&R Plainsman Model 865 bolt 22

Bought as a project and lost interest. Someone had painted the stock a kind of OD green. No cracks in the stock. So if you load the magazine with 3 rounds or less it feeds, fires and extracts just fine. Load 4 rounds and the first round won't chamber correctly.So I bought a new replacement magazine for 30 bucks from Numrichs, but it fits so tight in the magwell that it wont release the new magazine, Perhaps it needs a little fitting from a gunsmith or someone so inclined? Anyway, both aforementioned magazines are included Has some freckling on the barrel/receiver. Grooved for a scope. No serial number I can find which makes me think it is a pre serial 1968 model. May be in Bismarck Thursday April 4 during the day. Thanks for reading this long winded post.
